The Jamestown Soccer Club (JSC) U10 Program’s focus is to provide players with developmental, competitive, balanced and progressive playing opportunities through the various competitive formats that are available in the Triad area.
Currently, local soccer programs offer U10 play through either the NCYSA U10 Academy.
Program Overview
- Teams will play the fall and spring season in the NCYSA Academy
- Team Formation: The Academy allows for the constant mixing of teams to allow for multiple experiences and to ensure proper competition at matches. This means sometimes the team may be split evenly, and sometimes they may be split A/B/C to enhance the experience.
- Tournament teams may be formed from the “player pool” to provide fresh playing opportunities
- Pool training will be adopted at least once a week
Program Staff
- Program will be led by a USSF National Youth License holder.
- Head Coaches will be licensed at the USSF “E” License level or equivalent and must be candidates for the USSF “D” License or equivalent if they are not already a USSF “D” license or equivalent recipient or higher
- Assistant Coaches will be expected to obtain at least the USSF “F” License or higher if they don’t hold a license already
Fall League play
- Early September through end of October/beginning of November
- Approx 10 games
Spring League play
- Early/mid February up to/around spring break - maybe extended due to rain outs
- Approx 10games
Training Calendar
- Twice weekly – in the event of inclement weather indoors facilities are typically available.
- Fall Season -- Beginning early August through Thanksgiving/end of fall season tournament
- Break from Thanksgiving/end of season tournament through Mid January—optional fee based winter training program maybe offered. We do encourage you to take a break and to play another sport, JYL basketball would be an excellent option. Please visit www.jylsports.com for more information
- Spring Season – Beginning Mid January through end of the Academy season (end of April) – we aim to provide a mid season break (around spring break), but specific dates depend on the game dates for the Academy schedule and when Easter and Guilford County Spring break fall.
Tournament Play
- Tournament teams may be formed from the “player pool” to provide fresh playing opportunities
- 2-3 tournaments will be offered over the year -- 2/3 in the fall and 1/2 in the spring. Typically a pre-season, end of fall and spring season tournament is offered.
- Tournament fees are an additional cost and while we expect/hope players are available, they are optional
- Tournaments will typically be in the Triad area. Example: Teams played tournaments in High Point, Winston Salem, Greensboro and opted for an end of year tournament in Hickory.
While we understand that the players love to play in tournaments, we also appreciate that these are an additional cost, therefore, it is possible that we will seek other playing opportunities that will save money as we have done in the past.
Example 1: Early Spring, U10 boys play in scrimmages against non Academy competition and visited the Parisi Speed School over two weekends rather than participating in a pre-season spring tournament.
Example 2: Early Spring, U10 girls play in scrimmages against non Academy competition and played in a local tournament as it was offered at a significantly reduced price, over two weekends to save money.
