2010 Classic Season Underway At JSC

92 Boys Gold
U17 Premier Division

The 92 Gold opened their season with a long drive to Jacksonville, NC to face fellow Jefferson Cup accepted side, the OCSA Coastal Crew in U17 Premier League action on the first week of play.  The length of travel and a 45 day layoff was evident early as the Jammers were sluggish throughout the first 20 minutes, conceding a goal just eight minutes into the match.  JSC equalized on a Joey Fiorello volley off a corner kick just 10 minutes later.  JSC would push forward and create a number of chances, but couldn’t find the back of the net going forward, leaving the game even and taking their first point of the season.

The second match of the year, played at Bryan Park, matched the Jammers against CSA Predator - the largest club in the Charlotte area.   This time JSC came out early and established control from the start.  JSC would create a number of chances early and would go up 1-0 at the 11 minute mark when Pierce Verchick would find Justin Jones on a through ball on the left side.  Jones would cut back and slot the ball into the far corner for the finish.  Soon after the Jammers would double that lead when Andrew Daniel broke through the CSA defense and beat the keeper at the 23 minute mark.   CSA would get a goal back after halftime, but Jones then put the game out of reach with his second of the match at the 58 minute mark to leave the game 3-1.

The Jammers will next face CASL Elite on Saturday.

92 Blue
U17 2nd Division West

In opening week action the Jammers would face off against CUFC One7.  After falling behind 1-0, JSC rallied and would equalize in the second half on a header by Clayton Betts to take a point.

The second weekend saw the Jammers earn six points with a 2-1 victory over CVYSA White in Hickory followed by a resounding 4-0 victory over rival PTFC White on Sunday night in Kernersville.

The Jammers now sit on the top of the table with seven points.

93 Gold
U16 Premier Division

After a 6-1-2 season earned them promotion to the Premier division at U15, the Jammers opened their season against Triangle United Gold.  Neither team could finish in the first half despite a number of chances.  JSC would go ahead 1-0 after defender Matt Crooker ran forward and finished a ball from 18 yards out.  TUSA would push forward, but found the post on their best chance, leaving the Jammers with their first three points in the league.

The second weekend saw more issues on offense for JSC.  Luckily the defense remained solid, recording two shutouts.  On Saturday the Jammer defense held CUFC Gold scoreless to earn a draw.  On Sunday the team traveled to HFC and earned a 1-0 victory thanks to a Tyler Thompson goal out of a scrum in front of the net off a corner kick.  Once again the Jammer defense and keeper Brad Davis would maintain a clean sheet to leave the Jammers at 2-0-1 on the season.  The team will face CASL Elite and FVAA Red this weekend.

94 Gold
U15 1st Division East

In opening weekend action the Jammers were short handed due to ODP commitments against Wilson and Mebane.  In the opening match against Mebane the Jammers got off to an early start off a corner kick when Alex Lugo finished the ball to make it 1-0.  The Jammers would double that lead in 10 minutes later when Lugo took a through ball from Alex Lawrence and beat the final defender before slotting home the finish to make it 2-0.   Goalkeeper Danny Gillespie and the defense would maintain the clean sheet the rest of the way for a 2-0 victory.

The second match - held at Wilson’s Gillette Park - saw the Jammers jump out early again when Lawrence hit a 20 yard shot as the team pushed forward to make it 1-0 15 minutes into the first half.   A penalty kick would be converted by Lugo at the 27 minute mark to make it 2-0 in favor of JSC.  The third and final goal would come in the 72nd minute when Mitchell Brown turned and hit a well shot into the top corner to leave the game 3-0.

A third victory would come the following weekend as the Jammers got goals from Angel Valencia and Alex Lawrence to hold off a very fast and athletic Fayetteville Force team 2-1.

The Jammers will face CASL Premier and FVAA Red this weekend in hopes of continuing their strong start.
