Jamestown Soccer Club is proud to announce that the rising U18 Boys Gold team has been accepted into the Region III Premier League effective this fall. It is the club’s first regional league honor.
The USYS Region III Premier League is organized to allow the most competitive play possible for the highest-level teams within US Youth Soccer Region III. North Carolina teams compete in the league’s Eastern Division which is comprised of the top 10 teams from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
The 92 Gold team earned their place in the league by virtue of their Spring 2010 Premier League performance in which the team amassed a record of 5-2-2 overall to finish second behind North Carolina’s other entrant, Triangle FC Navy.
Executive Director Alan Foy was delighted with the development stating: "This is a terrific accomplishment for this outstanding group of young men, the coaches John Watson and Bill Winkle who are supported by the team manager Kim McDaniel. I am confident the team will thrive in this environment and will represent themselves and the club in fine fashion."
Jamestown SC will certainly be tested as the league will comprise three of the four Region III semifinalists from the recently completed USYS Region III tournament held in Baton Rouge (La.). In total North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida received two bids each. Georgia received four bids.
In addition to the Region III Premier Season the 92 Gold will be attending a number of Showcase events including the CASL Showcase, Disney Showcase, Las Vegas Showcase, and Jefferson Cup Showcase while also playing the usual NCYSA Spring Premier League schedule before closing out their careers at JSC and heading off to college.
