93 JSC Gold Take the Silver at Baltimore Mania Soccer Tournament (March 27 & 28, 2010)
93 Jammers Boys Gold traveled to Baltimore to compete in March Madness on the weekend of March 27th and 28th.
The 93 Jammers went 3-0 in their pool by beating teams from New Jersey 1-0, Pennsylvania 2-1 and Connecticut 1-0. This was enough to earn the Jammers a place in the final against Rochester, NY on Sunday March 28th at 1:15pm.
The Jammers played Rochester, NY in the fourth game of the weekend for both teams. The Jammers fell behind in the tenth minute to Rochester before settling down and gaining control of the match. The Jammers tied it up before the half when Greg Funk put away a loose ball in the box off of a corner kick. The Jammers would control most of the second half, but the match would remain level at 1-1 until the final whistle and then head into penalty kicks. The Jammers fell short in penalties, as Rochester finished all five chances.
The Jammers return to league action on Saturday April 10th vs the #1 team in North Carolina, CSA Predators, at Westchester Country Day School at 1:00pm. This is the Jammers last home match of the season so please come out and show your support.
Weekend Action March 21, 2010
The Jammers played NMSC on Sunday at Jamestown Athletic Complex.
The Jammers got on the board early with a goal from Christian Holden in the 15th minute, as he crashed the net and put away a loose ball. Garrett VanNutt added the Jammers' second goal in the 30th minute with a shot from about 35 yards out. The Jammers held a 2-0 lead at the half. Edgard Rodriguez would add two goals of his own in the second half. The first goal was a line drive shot from about 20 yards out. The second goal was assisted by Matt Bruck, as Edgar received a through ball and dribbled free on net before chipping it calmly over the sliding goalie. NMSC would add a late goal to close the game with a Jammers 4-1 win.
With the win the Jammers moved to 3-2-1.
The Jammers return to action on Tuesday night vs Greensboro at Bryan Park on field #8 at 8:00pm. Then the Jammers will be traveling to Baltimore the weekend of March 27th to play in the March Madness tournament.
Weekend Action March 6 & 7, 2010
On Saturday, the Jammers played FVAA. This was a physical match with the Jammers controlling the better of the play in the first half. The Jammers created a few good scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize on those chances. The match continued to be 0-0 into the second half, where the Jammers would fall behind 1-0 after FVAA finished a header off of a quick cross. FVAA would add another goal five minutes later and the game would end at 2-0.
On Sunday, the Jammers traveled to CASL hoping to string together 80 strong minutes of play. The Jammers struggled with possession early in the first half, but withstood the CASL attack and settled into the game nicely. The match was 0-0 at the half. The Jammers came out strong in the second half and put together a number of quality chances with combination play and penetrating balls. However, the Jammers were unable to find the back of the net and in the 70th minute CASL made the most of it. CASL broke behind the defense and scored off of a cross to take the lead 1-0. This sent the Jammers home with the loss, despite outplaying CASL in the second half.
The Jammers are now 2-2-1 and return to action on Sunday March 21st at 5:30pm vs NMSC at Westchester Country Day School.
Weekend Action February 27 & 28, 2010
On Saturday, Feb 27th, the Jammers played CUFC Gold at Smith Soccer Complex. The game was a physical and well played match. Each team had its chances, but to no avail as the score ended in a 0-0 tie. Brad Davis posted his second shut out in as many games with the help of the Jammers defensive backs (Greg Funk, Matt Crooker, Derek Varga, Neal Callahan and Tyler Thompson).
On Sunday, Feb 28th, the Jammers headed to Asheville to face off against HFC. This was a rematch of last year's state cup game, which ended in a 1-1 tie. The Jammers came out playing well and were aggressive from the start. The Jammers won the 50/50 balls and created opportunities for themselves. As a result, the Jammers were rewarded about twenty minutes into the match when Tyler Thompson finished a loose ball off of a corner kick by Garrett VanNutt. Brad Davis made a couple of one-on-one saves to preserve the 1-0 lead for the Jammers, as the Jammers captured its second win of the season.
The Jammers are 2-0-1 on the season and are on the road for two games this weekend against FVAA and CASL.

93 Jammers Gold at 2009 Tampa Bay Sun Bowl (December 27 - 29. 2009)

The 93 Jammers Gold Boys traveled to Tampa Florida to compete in the Sun Bowl during the holidays. The Jammers competed well and ended up with 2 wins and 2 losses, as they fell in the quarterfinals to the eventual champions.
The Jammers began play on Sunday against NASA 12 Premier (GA). The Jammers held a 1-0 lead at the half on a goal by Bobby Kroma. The Jammers finished with a 4-0 victory on goals added by Garrett VanNutt, Noah DeAngelo and Cole Manring.
On Monday, the Jammers defeated Fusion Futbol Club of Tampa (FL) 1-0 on a first half goal by Christian Holden. The Jammers controlled the majority of this match, but were unable to add to the margin of victory. Brad Davis and the defense held strong in the back and preserved the victory.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Jammers faced off with West Pines United Black (FL) who was undefeated in pool play and ranked in the top five in the state of Florida . The winner would earn a better seed in the playoffs. West Pines took a 2-0 lead into halftime, which was assisted with the lackluster play of the Jammers. The Jammers changed to three forwards to start the second half and applied pressure on West Pines for the duration of the half. The Jammers closed the deficit to 2-1 on a goal by Garrett VanNutt with about fifteen minutes remaining. Brad Davis kept the Jammers lifeline when he made a save on a one-on-one breakaway, as he took the ball off of the foot of the West Pines’ forward with about ten minutes to play. The Jammers thought that the tying goal was scored with about five minutes to play, but it was called back by the referee; this would be a continuing occurrence for the Jammers. The Jammers fell 2-1 and would enter into the Quarterfinals as a wildcard.
Later on Tuesday night, the Jammers played the Kicks Black (FL) in a quarterfinal match. Kick Black was undefeated during tournament play and also ranked in the top five in the state of Florida . The Jammers came out strong and took a 2-0 lead ten minutes into the match on goals by Garrett VanNutt and Edgar Rodriguez. The Kicks Black players had chances, but were turned away by Brad Davis a number of times. The Jammers held a 2-0 lead at the half, but the second half would tell a different tale. Kicks Black controlled most of the second half and knocked in three goals in a ten minute span that gave them a 3-2 lead with ten minutes to play. The Jammers once again thought they had tied the match with two minutes remaining, but their goal was once again called back by the referee. Luck was not on the side of the Jammers as they would fall 3-2.
The Jammers had a good showing and played well against two quality teams from Florida . The Jammers hope to build on this performance in their upcoming season.
