The 97 Jammers Gold kicked off their season with tournament play attending the Twin City Classic on August 22 and 23 and then the Furniture City Classic on August 29 and 30.

In the Twin City Classic, the Jammers went 1-2 in their pool and improved with every match. They started out with a 5-1 loss to a strong FCCA team on Saturday morning and then followed it up with two positive performances; a Saturday afternoon 8-4 win against HFC and a Sunday 2-1 loss to Twins Silver. The final game saw JSC create several chances, but finding the back of the net proved to be tricky.

In the Furniture City Classic, the Jammers opened up with a 5-0 loss against PSA. However, later that same afternoon, the Jammers gave 100% and were able to beat MYSA 5-4 to earn a place in the semifinals on Sunday morning. The Jammers entered Sunday’s game with confidence on their side as they faced off against TFC. The game went back and forth and was knotted at 2-2 with eight minutes remaining. The Jammers fought until the end, but came up short, as they surrendered two goals in the final eight minutes and lost 4-2. TFC would go on to win the championship as they defeated PSA 3-2 in the final later that day.

The 97 Jammers open up the regular season on September 12 at home against the LYSA Force.
