The 98 Gold played their first tournament of the young season over the weekend of August 29 – 30 in High Point, NC. After three games the Jammers came away with their first piece of tournament hardware.

The 98 Gold faced off against HCSA Avalanche in the first match on Saturday morning and won by a score of 4 – 2. Then later in the afternoon the 98 Gold took on the FCCA Strikers Caledonians and won by a score of 5 – 1. With the two wins on Saturday against two strong 2nd Division Classic teams put the 98 Gold in a position to just need a tie on Sunday morning to take home the hardware. Sunday morning saw the 98 Gold taking on their training mates, 98 Blue. The 98 Gold came away with a hard fought 5 – 2 victory.

The 98 Gold outscored their opponents 14 to 5 over the weekend and saw most of the players getting a look at playing multiple positions. The goals were scored by: Carter Stephenson (5), Jake Miller (4), Matthew MacDonald (2), Jack Davis (1), Colton Cheviron (1) and Brad Standen (1). Plus assists by: Matthew MacDonald (4), Carter Stephenson (2), Jake Miller (2), Jack Davis (1) and Logan Belcastro (1).

This is the beginning of a lot great future success for this group.
